◼︎ ANALOG or DIGITAL? While building my upcoming online store I realized how much important is to have both physical & digital products. Shipping art far away in a safe way is often more expensive than the piece itself, and unique original artworks are not the ideal merch piece for the regular reader of my blog. Yes, digital versions of books/zines will be available on the store, but currently I’m working on a new digital purchase, something where you can get an awesome thing specifically designed for you while also becoming one of the producers of a powerful story. Intrigued? Stay tuned for more. +more ships

OSTIA: The seaside of Roma, but also Mafia territory where clans carve up drugs & extortion businesses.
FIUMICINO: The other seaside of Roma, home of the fisherman’s and lovely abandoned buildings.
DRAGONA: My district, a decadent neighborhood rich in history & nature, even if nobody cares.

◼︎ The UK was the first country to acquire a nationwide canal network, dating back to Roman Britain. The modern network was built to fit the Industrial revolution during the 18th century, adding a reliable way to transport goods & commodities in large quantities.

CAN YOU SEE HERE ?
◼︎ On the west side of Manhattan near 46th street you can find the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum. It showcases the World War II aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, a Concorde SST, a Lockheed A-12 supersonic reconnaissance plane, the submarine USS Growler, the amazing Space Shuttle Enterprise and many mores planes and things. A great place to see some amazing engineering marvels and some terrible war tools.

NEW YORK CITY HEATH:
◼︎ On Monday night I was enjoying the park with a friend of mine, when suddenly I realize that someone was trying to stole my locked bike, again. While I was dealing with the bike situation i heard a bang in the background, at the begging I didn't pay much attention to it, mostly because I was trying to get my bike back (which I did), but as soonest I saw all the police rushing next by I realized that a girl was shot in the head just a few hundred meters from where I was. A hug to her family.

◼︎ I wish I had the money to rent one of those little boats and explore the entire lake by the water. If you are visiting the Garda's lake, or you are planning to do so in the near future, save some bucks by avoiding one of the hundreds tourist traps around here, and get a boat! It will cost you as much as a lunch in one of those silly restaurants with tables on a main square.

◼︎ Welcome in the Cloister of Paradise. This lovely Renaissance courtyard is 40 meters long and 30 meters wide, at the center there is an octagonal water cistern with two Corinthian columns that support the decorated trabeation, in the back end there is a covered porch where you can walk along the balcony and enjoy the amazing view of the Liri's valley and the Polish cemetery, on the sides there are the statues of San Benedetto and sister Santa Scolastica, and on the top of the staircase there is an anti-porch made of oriental granite columns and several niches made of marble bardiglio. An interesting place designed by Donato Bramante in 1595.

◼︎ Enjoying some marble porn while learning about the reconstruction of this room after the bombings of World War II: The Sicilian Diaspro was extracted from the sea bottom of Trapani, the Spanish Broccatello and the agate were provided by the institute of hard stones of Firenze in exchange of some of that lovely red Diaspro, a small part of the amethyst used for the central altar was supplied by the Brazilian Benedictine community, while the rest of it was extracted back from the rubble.

◼︎ This is the abbey seen from the Polish military cemetery of Montecassino. Sadly during World War II this place looked drastically different, especially on the morning of February 15th 1944, when several hundreds of American bombers destroyed the entire place in order to fight the German army. Ultimately, the bombardment was completely useless for the war and had caused nothing but destruction, indignation, regret and the death of many innocent people.

MY ROOM VIEW:
◼︎ The original monastery was founded by San Benedetto around 529AD, and since its founding this place was destroyed and rebuilt four times over the centuries. The first time it was destroyed around 577 during the invasion of the Longobards, then in 883 by the Saracens, an earthquake in 1349 badly damaged the entire complex, and in 1944 it was completely fucked up during the battle of Montecassino. Footage of the battle is available online, in case you need a dose of sadness.

CHANGING TIMES:
◼︎ In January 1946 the ministry of public works decided to rebuild the abbey according to the plans desired by the abbot Ildefonso Rea. The reconstruction and restorations works began on April first 1949, directed by the engineer Giuseppe Breccia Fratadocchi, with the use of founds from the ordinary state budget and using as much as possible of the marble material recovered from the rubble. Precious for a faithful reconstruction was the use of several drawings made by the monk Angelo Pantoni, who worked here as an engineer in the '30s.
