ALWAYS WORK IN PROGRESS:

One of my favorite things to explore is construction sites. The views that we always watch can change at any moment and most of the times we don't even notice. Berlin knows something about it.

AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE:

Studying & sketching the different stages of seismic rehabilitation. Most of our Italian engineers & physicists are very good in their tasks, but I can’t say the same thing about constructors. The majority of deaths during earthquakes is mostly related to cheap constructions and often involves forged paperwork’s and fake analysis. Greed & corruption are the real Italian enemy. Start fighting your inner bitch if you really want to make a positive impact on the world.

GENTRIFICATION SPREAD:

Downtown Brooklyn has changed a lot during those years, several tall building have added more magic to the skyline but some of this gentrification was very controversial. Let's dip my cameras into the streets of the third largest business district of New York City and let's go know more.

MONUMENTS RESTORATION:

Work in progress on the Cattedrale Di Santa Maria Del Fiore. This place is the perfect location to study prospective, tones & lines, especially with all the scaffoldings on one side. Documenting an interesting phase of the building with watercolors and gouache, while learning more with the help of Filippo Brunelleschi.

THE BIG BANG RESTORATION:

“A programme of essential works to conserve the Elizabeth Tower, the Great Clock and the Great Bell, also known as Big Ben began in early 2017. The total overall cost of the project, including VAT, Risk and Optimism Bias and transferred fire safety work costs, is now estimated at £61m as opposed to £29m as estimated in spring 2016. To ensure that the UK’s most famous clock continues to keep time, our experts closely monitor the mechanism and carry out adjustments on a daily basis. The Elizabeth Tower, which is visited by around 12,000 people each year, is carefully conserved by Parliament’s heritage team. However, as extensive conservation works were last carried out more than 30 years ago (1983-1985), significant work and an investment of £61m is now required to ensure it remains in good condition and is safeguarded for future generations. As the Tower is 96 metres tall, scaffolding is needed to enable workers to reach high levels safely. Scaffolding will be dismantled as the work is completed from the top, and at least one clock face will be on show at all times. As a Grade I listed building within a UNESCO World Heritage site, the 160-year-old Tower is subject to listed building consent. This programme of works has been carefully planned in consultation with Historic England. These works will: •Repair problems identified with the Elizabeth Tower and the Great Clock, which cannot be rectified whilst the clock is in action
•Conserve significant elements of the Tower, as designed by architects Charles Barry and Augustus Wellby Pugin
•Repair and redecorate the interior, renew the building services and carry out work to improve health and safety and fire prevention
•Increase energy efficiency to reduce the Tower’s environmental impact”

HISTORIC CITY LAYERS:

In 2000 Bologna was declared European capital of culture, in 2006 a Unesco City Of Music, it is also one of the most impressive trade fair district in Europe, and surprisingly it is one of the wealthiest city in Italy. That's very interesting for a Punk city like this one.

IMAGINE BACK IN THE DAY:

Imagine being a goldsmith & sculptor in the fifteen century and winning a design competition to build a dome for the largest church in the world at the times, mostly against architects who traveled from everywhere to join the contest. Filippo Brunelleschi made it happen with an innovative design that didn’t required the use of traditional centering support or flying buttresses during the construction of the dome, saving on precious wood at the time, while still having a beautiful aesthetic. Nowadays, almost six hundred years later, it is still the largest brick dome ever built. Fascinating!

MORE ITALIAN CITY VIBES:

A few months ago I felt in love with these pretty arches that line Bologna’s streets. They are called Portici and no other city in the world has as many, making the city streets fully accessible under heavy rain or in a melting hot day. A perfect fit for my future pop up shop
