◼︎ Wondering around this lovely little town for the first time. I don't know much about this location, but after this couple of hours of exploration, I think i mastered the topography of it. Now let's find a bar where I can sit in order to make some research and figure out the history of this place. Welcome in Sirmione folks!

CRUISING AROUND TOWN:

◼︎ A bicycle is my ultimate exploration vehicle, and this little town is an amazing place for it. Thirty-three square kilometers of interesting locations, gorgeous sights, historical landmarks and tasty icecream at every corner. Those are the magical streets of Sirmione.

◼︎ During the weekends this beach becomes a major tourists location, hosting hundreds of souls from every side of the planet. Giamaica beach is a gorgeous looking place, and a great spot to meet new people, but if you are looking for a quite place this is not your cup of tea. At least not in the weekends.

BATHING IN LAKE GARDA:

THE SIZE OF THE LAKE:

◼︎ Have you ever dip your body in the waters of the largest lake in Italy? Lago Di Garda have a surface area of 369.98 square kilometers, an average depth of 136 meters, a maximum depth of 346 meters, a shore length of 158 kilometers, and five islands. Welcome in an amazing endemic place!

SOMETIMES IS WEIRD:

◼︎ Another Street Photography morning in this suggestive little town. Walking around here is amazing, but the amount of gold diggers at every restaurant/bars is like a straight punch in the face. One third of all the pretty ladies I saw here are sitting next to a way older man, visually very rich, often very ugly, and with no fun coming out of their eyes. Get your shit together girls, you should be the ones on the better side of the table.

A BOAT IS A MUST HERE:

◼︎ I wish I had the money to rent one of those little boats and explore the entire lake by the water. If you are visiting the Garda's lake, or you are planning to do so in the near future, save some bucks by avoiding one of the hundreds tourist traps around here, and get a boat! It will cost you as much as a lunch in one of those silly restaurants with tables on a main square.

◼︎ One of the many interesting things about lake Garda is a freshwater bone fish called Salmo Carpio Linnaeus, or Carpione Del Garda. This particular fish belongs to the family of salmonids, it exists only in this specific lake, and because it has been fished since the Roman times nowadays it's at risk of extinction. This fish performs its life cycle throughout the lake without ever tracing the tributaries, without approaching the shores or the surface, without having any stable relation with the bottom of the lake if not in reproduction, and it usually stays at remarkable depth of up to 200 meters. The average size does not exceed 40 centimeters for 500 grams, but occasionally it has been found with a mass of 3 kilograms or so.

◼︎ The Scaligero castle was build by the Scaligeri family, lords of Verona, during the XIII and the XIV century. Surrounded by the waters of lake Garda it is the only access point to the historic center of the city, it is also a rare example of lake fortification, as well as one of the most complete and well preserved castles in Italy.

THE LOCAL SYMBOL:

◼︎ Sirmione became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1866, after been part of the Kingdom of Venice and a piece of the junior Austrian branch of the house of Habsburg. The northern part of lake Garda remained under Austrian occupation until the 1919, when the battle of Vittorio Veneto secured the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. I wonder how it felt to walk around those streets during that time!

LOCAL HISTORY PILL:

◼︎ Street photography is one of the many extensions of my Flâneurism, the art of observing & understanding the streets. It is the perfect tool for a detached observer who simultaneously takes part of it by participating and portraying the city, and the souls that are wondering inside of it.

◼︎ Lake Garda is a wonderful location to heal your mind and your soul. The amount of interesting sights is insane, the history behind it is rich, the atmosphere on its shore is surreal, and the energy of this place will feed your nervous system for days. Come visit this place! Just come.

Sirmione del Garda - July 2017

◼︎ This spot is probably one of the most popular selfie's area of the city. Every time I walk near this lovely Bougainvillea there is a line of people, all waiting for their turn to take a picture in front of it. Nature will always be trendy!

◼︎ Are you ready for a new beginning? The blog is lunching again on January 6, featuring a shitload of new projects & a brand new Youtube channel. I have been making movies since 2010, but it took me years to figure out how to turn them into a solid series, and now it is time to start sharing it with you folks. Can’t seek for perfection anymore, focusing on delivering content daily while growing a little step by step. New year, new attitude.

◼︎ After passing thru the lovely historic center of Sirmione you will reach the surrounding beaches along the top of the peninsula, here you will be welcomed by clear water and the characteristic stone slabs showing underneath it, allowing you to take a refreshing walk around the peninsula or just to soak yourself in one of the many natural small pools created by the rocks and the shallow water. Definitely one of my favorite places to hang around other people or just to work by myself while immerse in a beautiful atmosphere.
